Hi, I'm Gaby.

I'm a Member of the Comms Staff and first hire at Rostra.

I spend much of my time thinking about the different ways we interact with technology. I share long-form perspectives in my newsletter and half-baked thoughts on Twitter.

I also help run People Watching, a newsletter of great people you probably don't know yet.

My writing is the best way to see what I've been thinking about recently. You can find everything on my newsletter, but below is a selection of the writing I'm most proud of:

In Defense of the New (2024)
Making the Internet Alive Again (2024)
Enjoying the Journey (2023)
Revisiting Borderless Payments (2023)
Better Interfaces, Better Products (2023)
Talking to the Protocol (2022)
Why is the Internet So Lonely? (2021)
Curators All the Way Down (2021)
My Modern Friends and Me (2020)
Curators Are the New Creators (2020)

Prior to joining Rostra this year, I spent three years at The Chernin Group, where I worked on a team of three to build out the firm's first early-stage crypto practice. Before that, I had the opportunity to learn from the incredible individuals at both Bessemer Venture Partners and Chapter One. I received my BS in Symbolic Systems — a combination of computer science, philosophy, linguistics, and psychology — from Stanford.

I grew up in Southern California and currently live in New York City. I love to run (currently training for my second marathon) and browse Facebook Marketplace for pre-loved espresso machines.

I'm chronically online and the best way to get in touch with me is through Twitter DMs. If you have a healthier relationship with technology, you can email me: gabygold3@gmail.com
